The module will be taught and assessed in English. This unit covers the historical period in France from the end of the Second World War to the present day. This unit is the Beginners' Pathway version of the existing post-A level Level 1 French Studies BA (Hons) core module Understanding Modern France II. Year 2 students of Intermediate French taking the Beginners' French pathway will join post-A level students of French on FRE118 Understanding Modern France II. For the Post A level cohort on FRE118 primary source materials will be in French. Students on the Beginners' French pathway will be able to access the same texts in translation and will also be encouraged to familiarise themselves with the material in the French original.
